Warm Apple Trifle

You will need the following components:
 Apple Filling (recipe follows)
 Crumb Topping (recipe follows)
 Cinnamon Sticks, for garnish
 12 Double Cinnamon GrahamCrackers, crushed
 1824 Mini dessert cups-such as martinis, squares, cylinders or 12 full sized dessert cups
For the apples:
 4 Golden Delicious pples, peeled, cored and sliced thick
 1 cup sugar
 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the topping:
 1 ½ cups flour
 1 ½ cups brown sugar
 1 ½ sticks margarine
 ½ tsp cinnamon
 ¾ cup slivered almonds
Prepare apple filling:

In a medium saucepan, put apples, sugar and vanilla and cook over low heat. Cover and stir occasionally to prevent burning. Cook until apples are soft and mushy. Taste to adjust sweetness, adding sugar if necessary. This filling can be frozen for future use. To serve warm, keep it on the blech or rewarm it just before assembling.

Prepare crumb topping:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl, combine all topping ingredients by hand or with a a href="https://www.thepeppermillinc.com/product/mrs-andersons-baking-pastry-blender/">pastry blender until combined. Spread crumbs onto a sheet pan and bake for about 25 Minutes until golden. Let cool and break into small chunks.

To Assemble:

Fill the bottom of dessert cup with crushed graham crackers. Spoon warm apple filling into the cup over cookie crumbs. Sprinkle baked topping over apples. Garnish with a cinnamon stick. This is best assembled within a few hours of serving. To serve warm, assemble right before serving.
