Butterscotch Fondue

For the fondue
 6 tbsp butter
 1 cup brown suger
 2 tbsp water
 2 ½ tbsp whisky
 1 tsp vanilla
For dipping
 assorted fresh fruit and berries, cut into cubes
 cubes of pound cake
 chopped nuts or brittle

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Increase heat and add brown sugar and water. Stir mixture for 1 minute. Mixture will bubble vigorously.

Stir in whiskey and vanilla. Transfer butterscotch sauce to a fondue pot and light the heat source.

Arrange fruit and cake on a platter. Place chopped nuts into a bowl. Dip fruit and cake into the butterscotch and then into chopped nuts.
