Cheese Balls

Cheese Balls

1 pound farmer cheese

4 eggs

½ cup sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

½ cup flour

1 teaspoon salt


1 cup bread crumbs

2 tablespoons butter

¼ cup sugar


            Mix farmer cheese and eggs until well combined.  Add ½ cup sugar, vanilla and flour. Mix well and form into 2 inch balls.  Set aside

            Bring 4 quarts of water to a boil in a large pot.  Add salt and carefully add the cheese balls, 3 or 4 at a time.  Cook for 15-20 minutes or until they rise to the top.  Using a slotted spoon, remove the balls from the cooking liquid and set aside on paper towels to drain.

            In a large skillet, melt butter and brown the bread crumbs and sugar, stirring constantly.  Once they are a dark golden color, turn off the heat and place the cheese balls in the crumbs, turning to coat them on all sides.  Cool to room temperature before serving.  Serves 4
