1 16 ounce loaf french bread unsliced
5 ounces swiss cheese sliced
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 teaspoon minced onion
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/8 teaspoon salt
Pepper to taste
Preheat oven to 3500..
Cut bread into 10 even slices, cutting to but not through the bottom. Evenly divide cheese and place in the cuts between slices of bread.
Combine butter, onion, lemon, mustard and salt. Brush butter mixture over top and sides of bread. Wrap bread in foil, leaving just the top exposed. Place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated oven for about 15 minutes until cheese is melted and top is golden brown. Serve immediately.
To do ahead: Prepare bread until baking. Wrap completely in foil and chill up to 6 hours. Bake as directed.
