8 Bartlett pears
3 cups semi-dry white wine
2 cups water
1 cup sugar
2” piece ginger, peeled and sliced
3 cinnamon sticks
Peel pears and cut in half. Using a melon baller, scoop out seeds from pear halves. Set aside.
In a 5 or 6 quart pot, bring wine, water and sugar to a boil. Add ginger and cinnamon. Add pears and cook until tender, approximately 30 minutes.
